How to confirm your identity and why it’s necessary

Confirming your identity is one of the moderation stages in Extranet Emerging Travel. Without it, we cannot publish your accommodation on our sites.

To confirm your identity we use a service called SumSub — it’s a specialized platform that works on the basis of artificial intelligence and guarantees the security of your personal data.

Why do you need to confirm your identity?

This procedure helps to protect users of our sites from fraud. If you have completed verification in SumSub, then we can be sure that you are a real representative of the accommodation, which means that travelers can book it with peace of mind in the knowledge that they will be accommodated.

Confirmation of identity also protects the owners of apartments and other accommodation options: nobody other than you may use your documents to register in Extranet Emerging Travel. Even if your passport somehow ends up in the hands of fraudsters, SumSub will recognize an attempted fraud.

What is SumSub and is it safe to provide data to a third-party service?

SumSub (Sum&Substance) is a service based on artificial intelligence that verifies users: it checks that the photo in the document is consistent with a selfie taken online, as well as that the document itself is not lost, stolen or changed using graphics editors.

SumSub is included in the registry of operators permitted to handle personal data. SumSub’s protection tools are certified by the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control and the Federal Security Service, while the data exchange channels are protected by high-level encryption.

All transmitted data is stored on SumSub servers for a limited amount of time and is not provided to third parties. The service’s security standards can be studied here.

How to confirm your identity?

You will need an identity document, as well as a web-camera or smartphone.

  1. Go to the Identity Confirmation section.

  2. In the pop-up form confirm your permission for processing of your personal data.

  3. Enter the document type and country of issue, and upload a photo.

  4. Take a selfie using a web-camera or the front camera of a smartphone.

  5. Check the information in the document and edit it if necessary.

  6. Wait for the verification results.

Is it possible to confirm identity with a smartphone?

Yes, you may carry out all the steps contained in the instructions in the mobile version of Extranet Emerging Travel.

If you have started the identity confirmation process using a computer, then at any step you can click on Continue on telephone.

After that, copy the link to your mobile browser or scan the QR-code. You will be re-addressed to the mobile version, and you may continue from the same step where you stopped.

How to find out if my identity has been verified?

If your identity has been verified, you will see the following message:

What should I do if my identity is not confirmed?

If SumSub is unable to verify your identity, the following message will appear:

In this case, please contact the Extranet Emerging Travel support service via email [email protected] or chat in your online account. Our team will check whether SumSub has made a mistake and will advise you on what to do next.
