How to connect a channel manager and why do it?

A channel manager is a tool that allows accommodation providers to automate rate management, availability, and bookings across multiple online platforms. It synchronizes data between your PMS (property management system) and OTAs (online travel agencies), including ETG platforms.

Main functions

  • Manage room rates and availability across all connected channels through a single interface.

  • Automatically update information on availability and prices.

  • Receive and process bookings in real time.

This tool is especially useful for properties operating on multiple sales channels, not just ETG. It helps automate routine tasks, increase efficiency, and reduce the risk of manual errors and overbooking.

How to connect your property to a channel manager

  1. Specify your current channel manager or select one to get started. To do this, go to the “Hotel” section, find the “My channel manager” block in the upper right corner, and select the desired option from the list.

We cooperate with 80+ channel managers. Before connecting, we recommend reviewing all terms on the website of your chosen service.

  2. Contact the technical support team of your channel manager and let them know you want to connect to Emerging Travel Group (ETG). The partner will start the integration process or help you do it yourself.

  3. After connecting, open your channel manager account and synchronize your rates with the ETG’s Extranet.

  4. Make sure all room categories and rates available in the channel manager are created in the ETG’s Extranet.

Once synchronization is successful, the channel manager will transmit information on:

  • Rates

  • Number of available rooms

  • Restrictions (minimum nights, closed to arrival, etc.)

Important details when using a channel manager

The ETG’s Extranet only receives final values from the channel manager, not the internal PMS settings. To avoid errors, please follow the recommendations below and regularly verify your data is syncing correctly.

  • All mappings must match exactly by ID.

  • Use the advanced channel settings to verify data matching (the exact procedure depends on your channel manager).

  • Set restrictions in the channel manager interface, not in the ETG’s Extranet. Any changes made in the Extranet’s "Availability and prices" section will be overwritten by the channel manager data.

  • Any rooms or rates must be deleted in both the channel manager and the ETG’s Extranet.

What to do if synchronization is incorrect

If data in the Extranet is displayed incorrectly, possible reasons include:

  • Incorrect mapping of room/rate IDs

  • Errors in data transmission from the channel manager

  • Mismatched settings between the PMS and the channel manager

To resolve the issue:

  1. Go to your channel manager.

  2. Check the mapping of rate and room IDs in the advanced settings (the exact process depends on your channel manager).

  3. Contact the technical support team of your channel manager.

  4. If needed, forward their response to ETG’s Support for additional investigation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I update information manually if I use a channel manager?

No. If synchronization is active, all data must be transmitted via the channel manager. Manual changes can be overwritten.

How do I know synchronization is working correctly?

Check the prices and availability shown in the ETG’s Extranet. If the data matches your PMS, synchronization is working correctly.

Can I use multiple channel managers at the same time?

No. To avoid data conflicts, only one channel manager can be used for a single property.
