How to create the «Bed in a shared room» category

Room categories are added in the «Rooms and rates» section — you can find a detailed step‑by‑step guide there. In this article, we share recommendations that will help you correctly set up the «Bed in a shared room» category.

How to name the category

When creating a category on the Extranet, we recommend using the following names:

«Bed in a shared room with N beds»

«Bed in a male room with N beds»

«Bed in a female room with N beds»

To avoid merging rooms into a single meta‑category, the gender difference must be clearly stated in the category name. In this case, the system does not mix rooms, and the user sees the appropriate option (for example, «Bed in a female shared room»). It is important to ensure that these restrictions are followed: only women can be accommodated in a female room, and only men in a male room.

Please note:

  • The number of beds (N) can be any — for example, «Bed in a shared room with 20 beds».

  • For bed places, the bed position (upper or lower) is not specified.

  • Shared facilities outside the room are assumed.

  • Guests can book several beds in the same room — to do this when searching on «Zenhotels», they need to specify the number of rooms, not the number of guests. Each bed in the room is intended for only one guest and is treated as a separate accommodation unit.

What are the other important details

When creating and editing the «Bed in a shared room» category, several rules must be followed. Please read them carefully.

  • The maximum room capacity is 1 person. If you set a different value, our system will assume that one bed place is intended for several guests.

  • The number of beds offered is specified only in the «Availability and prices» section.

  • The «Sleeping arrangements» must be left empty. Since you are selling not a specific room but a single bed place, information about bed types is not required.

Failure to comply with these requirements may lead to incorrect handling of prices and availability and to violations of accommodation conditions, which may result in incidents with guests.
